3 Unexpected Foundations of Resilience Every Parent Should Know
Resilience. It’s a word we hear often... and it’s one of the most powerful traits we can help our children develop. But let’s be honest – it’s not easy.
Many parents struggle to find their own resilience before even knowing how to support their child in building it. And if you’ve ever thought, “I’m trying to stay afloat myself... how can I teach this to my kids?” – you’re not alone.
Recently, I shared some thoughts on this, and today I want to take it a step further. Let’s talk about how to actually build resilience – in ourselves and our children – with some real, practical strategies.
Because life does knock us over.
A health scare, a relationship rupture, a challenge at work... or even our own inner critic dragging us down with harsh thoughts or self-sabotaging behaviours like skipping sleep or stress eating.
And what helps us rise again is resilience.
That’s why I chose this as the topic for this episode.
I consider myself a resilient person.
And that doesn’t mean I never have hard days.
I’ve had dark thoughts.
Times when I felt completely stuck.
Times when it felt like the weight of everything might just crush me.
But underneath all of that, there’s always a quiet, strong voice that whispers,
“You’ll get through this. There’s something here for you to learn.”
And every single time, I’ve come out the other side... stronger.
After completing a powerful coaching program, I developed an even deeper layer of resilience – a kind of inner strength that makes me feel grounded, centred, and yes... even borderline invincible.
And now, I want to share with you the 3 key things I learnt – things I now instil in my children too.
They’re not the typical tips you hear. In fact, most people overlook these – but they are truly transformative.
Want to raise emotionally strong, resilient children – and feel that strength in yourself too?
