I Didn’t Mean to Work with Parents — But I’m So Glad I Do
I didn’t wake up one day thinking, “I’ll help parents and support them to bring out the potential in their kids.”
It wasn’t what I studied at university. It had nothing to do with my first career.
It came from pain...
Burnout. Depression. Numbness.
I was in a job that ticked the boxes... on paper, it looked like success. But it was slowly stripping away my soul. Until one day, in desperation, I asked for something different. And the person I asked helped me change the entire trajectory of my life.
That moment gave me more than relief. It gave me aliveness... helping others... finally doing work that lit something up inside me.
And I couldn’t help but wonder...
What if every child could grow up doing something that makes them feel that way?
What if they didn’t have to spend decades disconnecting... chasing approval...
performing... then unravelling... just to finally feel whole again?
My job isn’t always easy. But it’s the most alive I’ve ever felt.
Every time I hear a mum say she had a conversation with her daughter she never thought was possible... or a dad tell me his five year-old son opened up to him about his feelings for the first time... or a couple say their home has completely transformed... It brings tears to my eyes. My chest swells.
Because what I see in those moments is a family that has moved from managing family life to living it. No longer stuck in survival mode or running on autopilot. But actually enjoying each other. Creating moments of presence, laughter, and connection. This is what happens when you shift from firefighting behaviour to leading with calm and clarity, the whole atmosphere changes.
And each time, I ask myself again... what would the world be like if more people were doing what made them feel alive?
And here’s the thing I’ve come to realise...
What makes my work truly transformational isn’t just the strategies I teach... it’s my ability to spot patterns. To detect the root cause of what’s keeping a family stuck.
Whether it’s something hidden in a parent’s language... an emotional loop they can’t yet see... or a belief quietly passed down over generations.
Helping people get to the real reason something feels hard...and freeing them from it..is my gift. I can see the hidden threads and name them with love and clarity.
And even now, after years of helping others, I still get caught up in the same old fears...
Am I good enough?
Who will listen to what I have to say?
What if I’m not really making a difference?
What if it’s all just a fluke?
This is what they call “imposter syndrome”... but I wanted to go deeper... where does this really come from?
And more importantly, how can we raise our children so they don’t feel like imposters... just for being themselves?
Fifteen years ago, I had a knowing... that if we helped children express their creativity, their flow, their uniqueness... they could rise to anything life throws at them.
That inner voice was right.
Now we live in a world where the path ahead is unrecognisable. AI... technology... constant change. But we don’t need to fear it. Not for ourselves. Not for our children.
AI is an ally if we know who we are.
Because the truth is... it’s never been easier to build something aligned... to create... design... problem-solve... build a business or career that reflects you.
But we have to start with knowing ourselves.
If your job is tied to your identity, your true self will always be buried under pressure... expectations... and performance.
But when your worth is inherent... when you know you're enough just by existing... you can finally create something true to you. Your energy becomes yours again.
And this... is why I care so deeply about what children believe about themselves.
Because those beliefs shape everything.
P.S. My programs aren’t just about parenting tips. They’re about shifting beliefs... yours and your child’s... and getting to the root of what’s keeping you stuck. When you change how you lead, your whole family changes. If you're ready to explore what’s really underneath the surface, book a free call and let’s talk.
